Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon
A production by The Hoshruba Repertory, in association with Art for Causes, Hyderabad
About the play
Directed by Danish Husain, Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hoon is a critically acclaimed theatrical tribute to poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi. Produced by The Hoshruba Repertory in collaboration with Art for Causes, it pairs a biographical narrative with live music to explore Sahir’s influence on Indian literature, cinema and society. His verses on love, class, inequality and humanism continue to resonate across generations.
The play moves between Sahir’s fictional last interview and a recording studio in the 1980s, bringing memory, music and ideas together on stage. It features live renditions of songs from Pyaasa, Kabhi Kabhie, Waqt and Baazi.
Running time: approximately 130 minutes, including a 10-minute interval.
Since its September 2023 premiere, the production has toured India and Singapore, with nearly all performances playing to full houses.
